FABRIC > African Wax Print Fabric

African Wax print fabrics have very distinctive vibrant colourful patterns and prints typically worn in Ivory Coast, Ghana, Senegal and Nigeria.

Traditionally they are produced by a batik type method where repeated layers of pattern are applied in wax to cotton fabric and the fabric dipped in dye allowing non waxed areas to be dyed.

The final fabric has a wax film which gives it a stiffness which is easily removed by washing.

Our African Wax Fabrics are sold by the metre.
