TRADITIONAL LACE >Corded Lace

CORDED LACE is a form of lace where details of the lace design are highlighted with a heavier thread or cord giving a rich three dimensional, textural effect.

The haberdashery design is based on the highly prized handmade form of ALENCON LACE, originated in the 16th Century in the town of Alencon in France, worn by the aristocracy prior to the French Revolution.

Corded lace is versatile. The feel of the lace can vary dependant on the density of the cording and the base lace used. Some being more light and others more weighty.

The lace gives a very rich elegant effect, so is especially suited to bridal or evening applications layered over contrasting fabric or as a neckline.
